Quraysh’s Safety Delusion

In Surah Qasas, Allah (subhanahu wa ta’ala) mentioned that the Quraysh said to the Prophet Muhammad (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) if we follow the guidance (accept Quran, getting rid of the idols etc.) along with you, if we make Kaaba the house of only Allah (subhanahu wa ta’ala) and get rid of all idols, we are going to get snatched off from our only land. They gave the real reason that people would eat them alive if they got rid of the idols. In other words, they would make enemies of every other tribe if they got rid of the idols. They would get politically stuck. To this Allah (subhanahu wa ta’ala) answered with “didn’t we furnish and stabilize for them a Haram, a sanctuary that is safe?” In other words, Allah (subhanahu wa ta’ala) is asking them “do you think you are safe because of the idols?” Allah (subhanahu wa ta’ala) had destroyed previous nations because of the idols. Allah (subhanahu wa ta’ala) is asking them “didn’t they realize that Allah (subhanahu wa ta’ala) is the one who gave stability to this Haram and made it a safe place?”

In Surah Ankaboot, Allah (subhanahu wa ta’ala) says about the Quraysh, “haven’t they seen that we made the Haram a safe place, while at the same time all other people that travel get attacked/robbed? Are they in fact believers in falsehood?” They were believers in political climate, economic situation etc. over the deen of Allah (subhanahu wa ta’ala). Allah (subhanahu wa ta’ala) calls of it “baatil” (falsehood).

In modern times, the falsehood refers to all the political analysis, the economic analysis etc. over the deen of Allah (subhanahu wa ta’ala). One should always stand up for the right thing and do what Allah (subhanahu wa ta’ala) asked him to do.
